Table Talk

Immigration is an issue that is in the spotlight lately both nationally and locally. There are many facts and myths circulating. For example did you know? According to a "study carried out over an 18 year period in Washington D.C. revealed that there is a positive correlation between the number of immigrants in a neighborhood and increasing property values. As one real estate agent put it, with immigration, 'there goes the neighborhood...up.'"

Table Talk is a part of the Diversity Council's asset-based community dialogue project called Voices: Valuing Our Immigrants Contributions to Economic Success. The project was created to generate conversation about immigrants and the assets they bring that enrich our community and workforce. Table Talk is based off of other similar models including one out of Minneapolis called Marnita's Table(www.marnitastable.org) and Common Table www.commontables.org), a global organization bringing together diverse members to discuss in-depth topics while enjoying a meal together.
