Efficacy for Parents
Efficacy uses the “Get Smart Mindset” to support the idea that intelligence can be developed. Rochester Public Schools believe that all children can learn. The mission of the Efficacy Institute is to promote the academic and social development of children by helping educators, parents and human service providers operate from a simple belief: all children can learn at very high levels if the process of education is effectively organized.
Parent Efficacy Training will teach you how to motivate your children to work effectively, accept challenges with confidence and turn failure into a stepping stone.

In depth Description
EFFICACY “GET SMART” MINDSET TRAININGS FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES (from Kay to Board)
Efficacy as defined in the Webster Dictionary is “the power to produce an effect” and efficacy as defined by Efficacy Institute is “the capacity to mobilize available resources to solve problems and promote development”. It merely acknowledges that the resources are available in our community and school district but if we can identify and mobilize those resources we can help ALL children succeed.
Diversity Council has partnered with Rochester Public School district in their endeavor to reduce or eliminate the achievement gap. Current trends in educational testing show an increasing achievement gap nationwide. As part of District’s 5-year plan, by 2013 the district aims to have 100 percent of its graduates moving on to college and be successful in their future goals. Currently many of our students are unprepared for the college and eventually for the future workforce.
The Diversity Council’s counterpart in the Rochester School district collects and maintains all evaluation data and the goals are described in the district five-year plan, which is 2,000 families per year. See data sheet on student and family demographics and number served. Parents are also surveyed, we will have the 2009 – 2010 school year summary in June.
Why are these trainings important for your staff and employees?
- Work Life Balance: Stress from problems at home can increase the stress of a workday. Confidence and the ability to learn from mistakes are what Efficacy is all about. Parent learns positive communication strategies to motivate their children. Most importantly, parents will learn to help their children use failure and difficulty as feedback and use strategies to overcome difficulty.
- Motivated & Productive employees: Even adults report that they have felt encouraged by this training and will use the skills to meet the challenges they face to maintain work life balance. As quoted by one parent professional who supervises 100 employees “this training will help me develop strategies to motivate my team. - Future Workforce: To be competitive in the global economy we need to have a workforce that is confident and adaptable to learn the necessary skills to compete in 21st century.
Logistics of the trainings:
